Why is Australia - a nation that claims to pride itself on its multicultural make-up, that celebrates Cultural Diversity Week annually and whose census demonstrates the reality of out multi cultural make-up  - the Government has gradually removed the word multiculturalism from its documents, websites and portfolio descriptors? 

Why is the value of speaking and learning another language being over looked? 

Why are languages disappearing from our school curriculum? 

Moreover, why are so many people still proudly monolingual?
