Laneway Magazine

http://lanewaymagazine.com.au.

Looking people who want to write regularly for the site, supplying articles at least monthly if not more frequently – will happily publish one time writers if you have a particularly good article and an idea to contribute. If you can do their own photography that is a big plus but not a necessity.

Looking for a wide range of topics including reviews, opinion pieces and some news coverage relevant to the youth based target audience.

Unfortunately, they can’t offer any compensation to writers at the moment but they are able to get you free entry into a lot of music gigs if youare willing to write a good review for them and perhaps take a photo or two.

Slow Food Melbourne and the Victorian Farmers’ Markets Association.

The latter is seeking some volunteer filmmakers to produce short pieces about the accredited farmers’ markets to post on youtube.

VFMA is a not for profit organisation so unfortunately we don’t have any funds available but would very happily credit anyone who was interested in taking the opportunity up. For budding documentary makers, there’s lots of interesting areas within the farmers’ market arena to take up: food labelling, local food systems, preservation of agricultural landscapes, organics/biodynamics, sustainability, Black Saturday affected stallholders etc.

Approximately 40,000 Victorians shop at farmers’ markets every week. We have strong relationships with mainstream media such as the Sunday Herald Sun, The Age and 774 radio and a Friends program that we would look to promote the film clips to. We also have active social networks through twitter and facebook where we’d promote the films. I’d be most grateful if you could forward to any students that may be interested or colleagues that may have students that its appropriate for. Its a great opportunity for the right person!
