The applicant should have suitable experience in broadcasting, diverse music knowledge, interview skills, a positive ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and not be afraid of early starts.

Applications must include a demo on CD or USB, along with a CV.

Melbourne Tigers placement

without comments

Here is the information from the Melbourne Tigers. As well as the positions below, they are also interested in someone with web/multimedia skills. If you are interested, please send an expression of interest and either a CV or samples of your work to Lisa asap lgye@swin.edu.au

“We are currently conducting numerous school / community group clinics and promotions in the lead up to the new NBL season and I see a huge opportunity for us to build basketball (and the Tigers) on the back of the work we will be doing in the community. This is also a great opportunity to provide some “on the ground” experience for budding media students.

We are looking for a couple of driven students who would be capable of putting together web stories, media releases and who could be liaising with local media in relation to the clinics and camps we will be doing. The student(s) may be required to attend the clinics themselves (possibly take photos to accompany any stories) however much of the work can be done from home.

In addition there are also  media experience opportunities leading into the season which may follow the above, including pre season NBL games, Tigers events and even the NBL games themselves and associated media.”

LIFE FOR BEGINNERS

Life for Beginners is a new, independent, media business, which produces and distributes multi-media for pre-schoolers to help teach them about the Australian environment.

Run by two mothers (Martine Corompt and Sonia Orchard) with extensive experience in new media and writing/publishing, Life for Beginners released its dvd-activity card boxset In the Garden last October to rave reviews (see website). They sold their first print run of 1000 copies through Melbourne retailers in the eight weeks before Christmas, and In the Garden was rated by Readings bookstores as their Number One Childrens Nonfiction Title for 2010.

In the Garden and Life for Beginners have appeared in The Herald Sun, The Melbourne Magazine, The Age, Gardening Australia, New Idea and more; and on ABC Radio Melbourne and Hobart and 3RRR. In June In the Garden will be appearing in Burke’s Backyard and The Outdoor Room.

Life for Beginner’s second title By the Pond, will be released in September 2011.

While Life for Beginners has been successful in getting exposure in traditional (print and radio) media, their online presence has been very limited. Life for Beginners has a website (with shopping cart), a blog and a Facebook page, and their focus now is to attract customers to these sites, and increase online sales within Australia and New Zealand.

We are looking for someone to do work experience with our business, with the possibility of this leading to paid work in the future. Jobs would include:  formulating an online marketing strategy, generating interest on the Facebook site and blog, and finding and contacting appropriate blogs to promote Life for Beginners. We are looking for someone with initiative to think up creative ways to generate brand-trust, interest and sales amongst all those online mums out there. Being a mother, or someone familiar with the online mummy networks, would be a bonus.

Life for Beginners website: http://www.beginnertime.com

Please apply to Sonia Orchard at Sonia@beginnertime.com and outline your skills, experience, availability and why and how you think you’d be able to improve Life for Beginner’s online presence.

Project Opportunities 2011

Boroondara Volunteer Expo
Wednesday 9 March – 2pm to 7pm

Venue: Hawthorn Town Hall, 358 Burwood Road, Hawthorn (Melway 45 D10)

WOMOW.com.au stands for Word Of Mouth On the Web and it’s the No 1 Service Review Site in Australia. It’s a forum for helping people find awesome businesses and exposing the dodgy operators. It helps consumers get better service, while also helping good businesses stand out from the crowd and be recognised for providing great service. You can see the actual site here: www.womow.com.au
We’re an exciting small business and recently won the ANZ / MyBusiness Award for Best Startup in Australia. We’re looking for several enthusiastic and talented individuals to help with the three projects described below;

1) Video creation
Create 2 videos for our website – one aimed at users, the other aimed at businesses. Can be quirky / fun but must explain the concept clearly and fit with the (new) branding. This would involve putting together the story-line for the videos, creating the content and producing the video in a web-ready format. Prior experience creating video content is a must.

2) Press / Media Relations
Develop a compelling PR strategy and a series of press releases to get WOMOW a lot more media attention and brand awareness. (May or may not be involved in distribution and following up with journalists.) Creative thinking and exceptional writing skills a must.

3) Social Media Program
Develop a Social Media strategy aimed both at consumers and businesses (we have some ideas on this but need to bed these down). Set this up and prepare the first few months of content (would probably involve a Facebook and Twitter strategy). Prefer someone with some experience working on Facebook strategies for an organisation.

As we are a small business so you must have initiative and be a self-starter. The timing of the placements is flexible but we’d prefer someone with access to their own laptop/computer.
For each of these positions, we’d like the students to apply directly to us by emailing fiona.adler@womow.com.au

Please include any relevant previous work and what skills you would bring to the role.
As we are growing quickly, there is the possibility of further (paid) work for students that perform well.
