Tim McCarteny speaks to Ralph Barba, director and producer for Four Diegos Media (fourdiegosmedia.com). Ralph has been in the media industry for a good few years now. He works a lot with the Australian Sports Commission and produces DVD’s, photos and information booklets for them. He was a teacher for over 10 years and then moved into the media industry. He is looking to expand his team and is just about to travel to South Africa for the soccer world cup and work on a few projects there.

Meet at Docklands next week

Media artist Troy Innocent will be showing us through his work ‘Colony’ next week.

‘Colony’ is located in the garden behind Life.lab on Harbour Esplanade in the Melbourne Docklands

We will meet at the Docklands at 6.30 for the seminar next week. I will be standing on the Corner of La Trobe Street and Harbour Esplanade, across the road from Telstra Dome/Etihad Stadium/whatever…

You can get there by taking the tram straight down La Trobe street, or you can get off the train at Southern Cross station and walk down La Trobe towards the Docklands.

If you have an iphone, you can download the free ‘colony’ application so that you can ‘play’ with the artwork next week. Go to the Colony website to download.

Please let me know if you cannot come next week, so we don’t wait for you.

There will also be a social dinner afterwards for those interested!

As sometimes happens in this class, Clem Bastow has been called into work at the last minute and is unable to make it to the Media Industry Seminar tonight.

I have unsucessfully tried to get a last minute replacement — so tonight’s Media Industry class is cancelled. I apologise for any inconvenience.

The pub discussion we were going to have this week will be post-poned until next week. Please bring your resume to class for discussion.

Due to booking difficulties with seating arrangements on the channel 10 side, I have had to move the date for the Thursday visit to the 7pm Project. My sincere apologies to those who have been inconvenienced.

As this subject has effectively doubled in size (!) we have had to create a second visit to the 7pm Project.

There will be one visit next Tuesday 9th March and one visit on Thursday 18th March. The Thursday visit has been booked so as not to clash with the current subject schedule.

‘The 7pm Project’ on Tuesday 9th March 2010 .

Your Booking Number is 1153 You must present this number to security to obtain entry.

Please inform security if your mobility is restricted by pregnancy or physical disability, so that you can be accomodated appropriately.

Please be at the studio between 6:20 – 6.30pm.

You must wear closed toe shoes.

If you arrive late or have inappropriate foot wear you may be refused entry.

Street Parking is available on and around Toorak Road. Please be aware of Permit Parking signs. There is also parking available at the Como Centre – please take note of the cost. The studio is a 5 minute walk from the South Yarra train station.

For security reasons, bags may be checked upon entry to the studio. For full conditions of entry please see below.
