Pinoy TV is in need of a few volunteers who may want to do video journalism for a news and current affairs program covering youth and student issues – though this may change depending on the interests of the volunteers. Ideally, they should have some experience and knowledge in (broadcast) journalism.
The program will be produced under Pinoy TV Inc, a member group of Channel 31. It is currently producing a Filipino-Australian magazine lifestyle program screened Sunday nights at 6.30pm. Work is also under way for a music program pilot featuring Melbourne’s independent bands.
In terms of logistics, the group has it’s own video/audio recording equipment and if any studio time is required, this will be accessed through Australian Catholic University’s facilities which has a medium sized TV studio.
The hours of work are usually fortnightly filming on Saturdays 10am to 5pm but pre-production and editing time is done outside of this time.
The yet unnamed program hopes to submit the TV pilot by mid this year and if approved, will start it’s 13 week season from September.
This would be a great opportunity for Swinburne students to get their work seen in the mainstream, especially as C31 is going digital very soon.

Sounds interesting! I’d be keen to get involved, I’ve got my own HD camera (Canon XHA1) and would be really interested in getting out and filming whenever I can.
I’d love to get involved in something like this, I’m a film and tv student, co-majoring in journalism.
